Phantom 631
Hey all As some of you know I was planning a full day at Bunny Land today Sadly my lack of sleep caught up with me last night after I dropped a sleeper down my gullet and I spent the next 16 hours lights out So upon waking, I got myself prepped even though I was feeling crap and went for the camcorder, one of the batteries had 100% charge so I went to find my tripod for a few hours recording. I found my tripod smashed :censored: that cost me a fecking fortune and now its fooked Rang a mate to borrow one of his tripods, he's at bloody work So doing a video was out. Made my way to my new permission and rang the doorbell, no reply so a quick note through the door and I went round the back of the house where I was greeted by woodies heading for the sky and bunnies running for their lives A young Kit decided it fancied its chances and stayed put so I unzipped the baby and slotted a 16 grain FX into the breach. It was an easy standing shot and the resulting Entrance wound: And exit wound This was followed shortly after by another easy 35 yard bipod shot I dont know why but kits at the moment are flapping about like mad after they have had their brains mashed by a 16 grain FX chunk of lead as was the case with this one above. I thought I had wounded it but when I got to it it was dead as can be seen by the brain matter poking out the exit wound. After the second kit it all went very quiet So I went for a wander to the far side of the side garden which lead me to the front lawn where I found Speedy munching on grass. He hadn't seen me so I crept up through the long grass and using a half dead tree as cover I moved to withing range. CRACK a twig underfoot had speedy up on his hind legs nose in the air; ears like fecking radar I got to the tree and placed my babies forestock on the back of my hand. I was so intent on making Speedy a FORMER world class cemetery sprinter that I had my eye at the scope all the time. He was bang on my zero and he was gonna get it BIG time now Crosshair right at the back of his eye and the adrenaline was coursing through my body, brought that under control and let off the shot and CRACK! Victory is mine or so I thought! Keeping my eye at the scope I didnt see speedy drop In fact all I saw in the scope was speedy taking off at his usual sprint WTF? I had been so focused on him, I did not see the small branch that was out of focus in the scope. The very loud resounding CRACK was the pellet hitting this dead branch and being deflected a mile of course giving Speedy ample warning of impending danger and he didn't need another warning So well and truely miffed I went back to the other end where I saw a kit at about 40 yards, leaning on a fence post I placed the crosshair at the top of his little noggin and down he went. Recovering this little fellow I laid him with the other two and got myself into my sniping position, the sun was beating down, the wind was very squally and seemed to be comming from all directions, so I decided to give it another half hour and go home as I was still feeling crap. I'm glad I did hang around a while longer, a Jackdaw had decided to take an intrest in my three kits and had landed on the large conifer to my right. I stayed motionless and watched as he flew to a lower tree to my left all the time eyeing up the three dead kits. I slowly moved my baby into my arms and rolled onto my side gave it a mildot worth of hold under and let the lead go. A very satisfying Crack as the lead made contact with the Jackdaw's skull and down he came . I had given myself 7 days to crack a Corvid and here we are on day 7 with my 1st Here's his close up Feeling I had achieved something and seriously dehydrated, I took the group photograph with my baby and packed up and went home where I rehydrated myself with a few pints of cold water and fell asleep again. Not too bad for an hour or two , feeling crap. Phantom 1 Quote Link to post

matt_hooks 188
Ouch, lucky it was "just" am air rifle. Do that with a full bore and you could be shooting into the next county! A good lesson to us all, check your muzzle before you touch the trigger! I've seen people shoot through the bonnets of land rovers because of that! Nice result though, good few meals there! Phantom 631
sorry about speedy tony, theres always next time, but at least the jack made up for it eh... great write up mate all the best, wurz Thank you all Gentlemen Wurz, Speedy is a right little sh!t. I've been trying to nobble him for what seem like an age I used to say "Next time my furry little friend, your dead!" trouble is every next time, he's either moving at full sprint through the Cemy or sat in the old ladies garden; where I couldn't shoot. Thats all changed now though I can shoot there and I'm on his own turf now The land owner just rang me and insists that she give me something for my efforts as I've already told her I don't wan't paying, so I told her a tin of pellets would be enough Thanks again guy's I can't wait to post about Speedy's demise *EVIL LAUGHTER* Phantom Edited June 1, 2010 by Phantom Quote Link to post

Phantom 631
What will you do once speedy's gone to the great warren in the sky??? You'll have to find a new interest! Oh I already have a few lined up A couple of black ones and a 'Black Brown and Golden Bronze' one on another permission. But with the hundreds on Bunny Land, Ive got a hell of alot to keep me occupied. I've now got a stratagy in place though as yesterday when I left bunny land, I walked past the Cemetery (next door) and saw more in there than I have for a long time, if I hadn't felt so crap I'd have had a few from there as well. So now its some on bunny land, back tot he cemetery then back to bunny land as well as th epaddock at the back of both these permissions I can make a severe dent in the population, but as for the demanded "Erradication" I would have to work there 24/7 with a machine gun. Its never gonna happen Phantom Quote Link to post
