AAS410K .22 & AAS410K .177

Recommended Posts

Hi every one

Chaz and I had a dawn raid planned and well executed it was, here is how it went!

Chaz picked me up at 5:00am Monday and yes he was on time! Lol no lie in this week lol

I took the AAS410K .22 with me, as I wasn’t sure if the AAS410K .177 still held its zero, because I didn’t get time to zero it after the work I had done on it by Adi.

Chaz had his AAS410K .177 with him

We got to our permission @ 5:40am; I quickly jumped out of the truck and cracked the combination on the gate by memory, and we were in chaz drove about 10yds I locked the gate and we got our kit ready here!

Now we are ready, we get kitted up at the gate because as we enter the field there are usually bunnies out at the end of the fence line as we drive down the lane.

As we are coming to the last 5 yds of the fence we come to a crawl, im ready to take a shot as we enter, but there were no bunnies out DOH!! I have a good scout around but nothing to see.

So we carry on around as we are nearing are sniping spot, we pass the landowner’s house and fence line. On this fence was two nice big wood pigeon’s and they were on the passenger’s side so the first shot fell to the AAS410K .22 no need to range it as it was in my zero, so cross hairs locked right on its head THWACK! Down it came like a stone and its partner in crime flew off.

What a mess

As we got to our position a bunny popped up on the driver’s side ranged at 40yds chaz puts the truck in to park and steadies himself line’s up the shot THWACK!! A cracking shot not a movement from the target as the AA field .177 was delivered lol

So a live! Report was imminent lol

We sat in the truck for a while and there was kits popping up and down all the time!

And they were really fast too! So chaz focused on the left hand side of the warren and I jumped in the back and focused on the right hand side. Some of the kits were coming out and going straight back down another hole only a few feet away, far too quick little buggers!

After an hour they started to come up and have a look around and get the courage to have a little wander! But Always cautious, and not too far from the hole which they rose from. Then the moment arrived when they stayed still long enough for us to get some shots off

And that was Charlie’s side up came the lighthunter THWACK!! And over it went nice shot chaz, now my turn had arrived THWACK!!! A small flip from the kit and lights out.

We both had another two each from the static truck, and I decided to have a mooch around.

Where one fell

I headed off to the front field where we had seen some activity before, but when I got there it was a lost case. The weeds were far too high and dense to see anything moving.

So I went to the far end of the field where its was clear to see that they had been grazing, and I set up a sniping point just under a young tree, it was 30 yds and a telegraph line ran the hole length of the field, but 18/22 yds from my position so if nothing shows on the ground at least I have the line.

I was facing the grazed area and had my back to half of the line, so I asked chaz if he sees any thing land on it, to radio me then I could turn and have it. We do this a lot with the radios when we can see each other and have had some good results. About 15 minutes after asking chaz to contact me well he did, a collard dove had come into range! So I turn in ninja mode and lock on THWACK!!!! The AA field .22 had done its job; with the added weight of the pellet it dropped like no other stone I have seen drop lol

I sat under this young tree for about another hour I spotted a woodpecker, and was just going to film it and it disappeared. After a short Knapp zzzzzzzzzzz lol I made my way back to the truck via a stop at another telegraph pole and got in to a prone position

Another sniping post

Its a nifty bit of kit , fully regged and tuned. Basically its had a new short pull hammer action installed , which means they rework the hammer so it taps open the valve like a toffee hammer rather than the whack in the standard gun. This gives 30-40% more shots per fill and a flatter longer power curve, so around 100 shots from a carbine It also has a stronger hammer spring and the top section has been machined to accept a thicker section breech seal so less seals shooting down the barrel ., and it has a BTAS custom barrel band . I also had a reciept for the last service at Milbro ( where Ben is now ) £195 !!!! It has been in my walnut stock , but ive just got hold of a stripped beech one , which will have a camo paint job . Very consistent mate , shoots beautifully .
