ivomec or ivermectin

I have a bottle of ivomec for cattle here and my terriers seem to be losing hair would it be ok to give them a jab of it it is 1ml to 50 Kgs. has anyone ever tried it. I have heard of poeple using it but never done it myself.

but why are the dogs loosing fur ? if its mange ivemec is good but don t use more than 0.3 ml and dont go using it every five minutes once a year is enough , ivermec knocks the shit out of the dog for a couple of days but then there fine

Cheers topper, one of them lost hair on her ears but its not from scratching because she doesnt seem to scratch them and the other terrier lost some hair around his hocks on the back legs.

This product is not licensed for dogs... and you run the risk of harming your dog if you dont know what your at...

 

i'd still say .3 of a mil is too much personally, but i'm not suggesting you use it,

 

maybe if someone on here HAS used it successfully doesn't mean to say, YOU will get of Scot free....

 

A greyhound man beside our town uses it and last year one dog sadly passed away due to an allergic reaction,

as snap said treat this stuff with kid gloves, ive used it lots of times and as i said it knocks dogs for six but as i said WHY IS THE DOG LOOSING FUR ? from what you have said i dont think you need ivermec ask yourself a few questions ie whats the dogs bedding is it rubbing the fur off , is the diet right for this dog ie to much protien! is it a fungal infection?

 

put some pic s up this may help us to help you , but leave of the ivermec for now

I use it and I think its great. I use 0.1ml per 3kg body weight. Ive used it on westies,Glenn of Imaals, beagle, shitzu.I have a terrier with border lakeland and russel in him and no prob. It is very strong and Ive been told it is fatal to breeds with collie in them. Ive never used it on collie types so I cant confirm this. It does internal and external parasites, Ive used it on reptiles aswell. I think its brilliant.It is very strong so I lean on the side of underdose than over dose. When I do a dog for the first time I do have a little thought I hope I shouldnt have done that. Most dogs get a little burning or pain when you inject it into them. All the times Ive used it no dogs had any bad affects. The dossage I got of a friend who got the dossage of a vet.

its good stuff but be carefull, i give it to my dogs last year but my whippet/greyhound took a bad turn on it knocked him back for a couple weeks, so he wont be getting it again

Be careful! if you think your dog may have picked up mange or some other type of mite id use BENZYL BENZOATE you can get it from the chemist for a couple of quid. I use it as a dip when the terriers have been to ground but it can be used neat applied to the affected area. Word of advise dont get it in the eyes not yours or the dog it hurts like hell lol Also ivomec/ivomectin sould be used with caution if a dog has any collie in it, its something to do with the genetic makeup of the collie. atb mrs A.R.D

if theres any risk at all of harming your dog,then feck the idea off find out why theyre losing hair and treat it with something safe
