saluki X grey

just went and picked a pup saluki X grey theyr 3 weeks old if ther gona turn out featherd how long to i will see it my pup is black an tan and the sire is featherd but the dam not iv to collect it in 5 weeks will it show befor then just askin because this is my first saluki pup thanks conor.k:thumbs:

If they are true 1st cross saliki Greyhound mate you'll not get feathers. you are quite likley to get feathers on the next generation but not the first cross.

correct smooth is allways the predominant geene in a first cross , second cross and after more likelly to get feathered ,,but you can still get split litters some smooth ,some feathered :thumbs:

conor the pups r not first x they r saluki lurcher x saluki lurcher and the moter is feathered and the dog is smooth dont think the one u picked is going to b feathered the ones like the mother look like there going to be should be alright i use to own the mother and the ben dog has killed a good few big ears

Hair type is an example of incomplete dominance if you get two allele mixed ie.smooth=SS and feathered =FF if you get SF you will get a mixture of the two like my saluki/greyhound is smooth but has some feathering on his tail my mates bitch has some feathering on her ears but is smooth coated both examples of both alleles contributing no one allele is dominant BOTH contribute if they are mixed. Its the same in humans with curly and straight hair if you get a mixture you get wavy hair otherwise everybody would have curly OR straight hair.An example of dominant alleles is tongue rolling if you have the allele you can roll your tongue if you dont you cant and you cant learn to do it
