Ricky-N.p.p 0
Rats will nearly always stick close to cover for obvious reasons so try putting a fenn close to the barn wall and cover it with a peice of wood at this / sort of angle minimising risk to non target species. rats suffer from neofobia wich is a fear or new objects so give the traps time ! in saying that though there eye sight is pretty poor so put yer trap in the right place and theres a good chance they will just blunder into it ! fingers crossed mate Quote Link to post

maty j 6
i had a few rats were we keep the chicken feed. set the fenn and had a fair few rats. i never coverd it as its allways locked and no gaps for anything to get in (apart from rats) i used a hoe to scrape the soil around it so it wasant a metal step they were treading on but a soil ramp and sprinckled the tradle with soil picking out the big stones first so they didnt set the trap off and then sprinckled a bit of corn around the trap then onto the treadle plate itself. worked for me anyway. or get a terrier pack to sort them out. went ratting for the first time yesterday, never would of thort rats could be so fun goodluck.
