Benellisupernova 104
Hi everybody, I had a new ferret yesterday. A 10 month old hobb. I have tried putting a harness on him to take him for a walk but the keeps bighting me every time How would you stop him from bighting? Do I really need to use a harness, does anybody on here use one? Cheers Quote Link to post

wullieh 53
if you putting it on him to take him a walk then i would say get some ferretone and put it on his belly and wwhile he is licking it you should be able to fit the harness, wouldn't use a harness when working the ferret. The one 8,479
Dont put a harness on him then just let him wander about the garden where you can watch him Quote Link to post
Kay 3,709
Let him settle in a bit ... if he is entire that also may be contributing to his behaviour Quote Link to post
mattydski 560
I would get his confidence first by increasing the handling length and frequency... Then, when you have his confidence.....if you must.......put the harness on him. Quote Link to post
scothunter 12,609
reminds me off a time i was working in bornemouth we went round to the chippies one night and on the way back passed this couple with a rabbit on a lead i was trully tempted to bend down and stretch its neck haha Quote Link to post
The one 8,479
Im no keen on folk putting a harness on a ferret and wandering about the streets sniffing where all the dogs etc have been pissing picking up everything going . Quote Link to post
whin 463
would let it wonder free in your back garden and if you want to exersise hm find some rabbit holes and let him have a bit sport, Quote Link to post
liftboy1 0
no offence pal but ferts and harnesses dont go like. My ferrets are either down a hole or in a hutch. If they bite, I know its strange but spit on your hand and let them lick it off they will soon come. I once had a proper poley given to me and he just wouldn`t tame, but the common fert will come. keep handling them too. Quote Link to post
