gurtwurz 792
alright lads, following on from the stables cock ups the other night it looks like i've still got issues to work out due to sudden loss of zero which i originally thought was the mag indexing incorrectly, and the fact that my groupings are suddenly up to 2" at 30 yds(what the ??) i'm trying to figure out whether its the scope or rifle thats at fault and dont want to remove the scope to try another if i can help it, as there shouldnt be owt wrong with it-after all its put meat on the table very well since october. mounts are all secure as well. putting the gun through the chrono i've found that the fps ranges from 504fps to 528fps over 10 shots, so i'm wondering if this would affect the accuracyenough to cause the sudden grouping expansion from 1/4" to 2"? i've also cleaned the barrel, but by now have put through another 100 pellets so it should be leaded up again shouldnt it? all advice gratefully received, wurz Edited May 30, 2010 by gurtwurz Quote Link to post
Buster321c 1,010
20 fps spread is nothing really , would`nt worry bout it . Personally i would center the scope . You can do this by taking off the top of the mounts , leaving the bottom parts as a cradle .Look through the scope and fix it on a point about 20yds away . then , without moving the rifle , turn the scope by hand through 180degress . If the cross hairs are still on the same point, then the scope is centered . If not , and when you turn the scope the cross hairs are quite a way out , you need to adjust it so the cross hairs dont move when the scope its turned . Some times a scope can be zeroed , but not cented , then you may run out of adjustement , so after it has had a `knock` you might think your adjusting it , but it has no more adjusment left . zini 1,939
What pellets are you using Wurz? Mine shoots FX 15.98 grain but averages at 568.7 FPS giving me 11.51 FP Yours just seems a little low mate maybe. Si Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Mine off in 4 weeks when I get home to the UK to John Bowkett for a blue print job and get the barrel shortened to the shortest that it can be made. I’m then fitting a BSA VC silencer on it. You ever thought of getting your R10 blue printed too mate? John would defo sort out if its your rifle or not mate. I’ve heard his work is very good on the R10's. I was speaking to Shay yesterday on the phone and he as convinced me to get it done early rather than wait till I get my first problem with the rifle and then send it to him. Anyone got Johns contact information please? And does anyone have any experience of his work? I am interested to know what he will do to my baby. Si Quote Link to post

garfield 23
hi Si the shortest he will fit is an ultra barrel very nice indeed and wurz how heavy is the 2nd stage of the trigger set as i had the same issues with my raider and it turned out i was pulling the last stage as i was used to my s16,s trigger pull weight and it was opening my groupings Quote Link to post

gurtwurz 792
cheers lads, to be honest i reckon the scope mightve had a knock so if changing the pellets from ftts to penetrators give the same results then its off with the simmons and on with the map pro- expect all sorts of parralax related questions to follow if so!! @ buster, first i will check that the scopes centred tho, i appreciate the advise there mate at si, i normally use H+N FTT's mate but as they havent got a weight written anywhere on em i used 15.6 grain logun penetrators so i could get an accurate chrono reading, i normally use em in the rapid to pretty good effect but like you say, it does seem a little bit low- but, it is a .20 now so that'd make for a different reading to yours mate. thats also the reason i havent sent it to JB as tench worked his magic turning it into a .20 and finishing it with a screwcut rapid barrel. no one on the bsa site has a bad word to say about r. bowkett tho, so use his services with confidence mate. @ garfield, dont think the triggers the issue as its so light compared with any of my other guns mate, but thanks for the heads up mate. gonna check the scopes centred, if so then i'll try the penetrators and if that doesnt work then on with the map pro. i'll let you know how its going in the mornin... thanks for the advice guys, i really appreciate it lads all the very best, wurz Quote Link to post
