J Darcy 5,871
The magazines without loyal readership will ultimately wither and die as internet sites, such as this one, means people do not have to go to the newsagents any more. I bet some larger magazines are very worried indeed. I was speaking to an advertiser the other week and they told me that an advert in a well known weekly only brought them one sale and they won't be advertising again. Gone are the days when your right to reply could be stifled. The internet, for all its weeknesses, ensures that the truth can, and will, be told. If the editors do not wake up and smells the coffee soon then they will not survive this next decade.People buy the magazines for good quality articles, not to read silly adverts. It's going to be interesting to say the least.......
forest of dean redneck 11,530
stopped buying cmw roughly 2/3 years ago. found all the sea fishing/airgun/cmw mags got repetitive or seasonal in their articles. cmw has at least twice published by same author article on feeding lurchers on the cheap using bargin supermarket :thumbdown:stuff. WILF 46,566
For weekly publications, the quality of the content can never be maintianed due to deadlines, sponsors etc The writer will have to pen any old shit to satisfy the above, older lads wise up and get sick of reading bullshit or the same old articles time after time. The future for the written word lays, I belive, in quarterly type publications with quality content. There should of course be a price for a better quality product, but it pays for itself in the saving on crap weekly magazines. JMHO
slingshot82 32
I still get the countrymans weekly, I find its very repetitive but does have a few decent write ups. And I like to see whats for sale in the back lol. This site is good reading but there are alot of pointless threads going up by absolute wasters. Still, you read alot interesting and helpful posts Kyle
