hi ive got a spanial that cant stop scratching its ears or shaking its head,on looking at them there is a yellow crusty scabs inside both ears, any ideas or cures

Just try bathing the ear every so often, as its the same when we gets scabs we tend to pick at them an scratch them just to ease the itchin, the dogs doing the same, thats why its shakin its head probably tryin to stop the irritation. Just make sure there is nothin lodged in the ear.

if it's yellow and crusty it's most likely an infection,i have 2 cockers, the spanials often get problems with their ears, with them in the water alot their ears get wet and because of the amount of hair and skin around the entrance to the ear,it gets nice and warm and damp in there,a perfect place for ear mites,i would get it checked out mate just to be on the safe side, hope this helps,cheers......johnthumbs.gif

If his ears smell musty its more than likely that he has ear mites and the crusty stuff is where hes been scratching if you put white toilet roll round your finger and swab his ear out it will probably be covered in brown waxy stuff ....earmite sh*t......if so treat with drops or TEP powder and it should be fine.
