Seen that idea before, dogger off here has a similar set up, holes cut in the side of the barrel though.

They look like they are on wooden stands mate, either with a half circle cut out for them to sit in or blocks either side.

Doggers ones are supported by chains to keep them off the ground and they sit against the back wall of the run.

I use the same kennel, and when its due for a wash down, a quick drive to the

garage and jet wash it out

good idea, but i would cut the hole in the front of the barrel and at one end, so the dog can get around a corner and out of the draft.

I used to use the barrels but had problems with condensation in the winter think it was just with the two terriers breathing and it condensated on the top of the barrel and dripped down.
