stroller 341
What was that video for?? was it a promo to sell pups or to convince me that his old dog bless her was still a good worker?? As fence hopper said all my dogs will flush pheasant (and next doors chickens). but my dogs retrieve their rabbit (In the case of the saluki x retrieve may be too strong a word he just sort of looks at it and then at me) a bit of shenanigans going on me thinks Quote Link to post
Black&Tans 0
This is no joke, the guy is serious! So my point is my dogs are rare and in demand, and they dont end up like most lurchers which are breed to look like travelers dogs, I`m sorry to say, its sad but true.! Anyway off for a days match fishing against my brother in law. Have a nice day you lot, and just think about where the pups your breeding are ending up.! its no joke, or dont you really care about dogs. Quote Link to post

Mate - you live in your own little world where you seem to think what the dog looks like is of ultimate importance to a lurcher man/woman. If the dog ends up in a shelter it's because it's crap at doing it's job, not because it looks a bit scruffy. To be fair you have already boasted about being able to sell your pups to show homes for 475 quid and then go on about the breed being ruined by folk breeding for money etc etc and selling to old ladies. Thats you matey - with your obsession with looks and cost. . . . . . go home, you will find no friends here. Quote Link to post

Wild_and_Irish 11
What an absolute wank if you listen to some of the things he's said he's sounds just like a peddler and a self righteous , saying lurcher owners don't care about where their dogs go, if he knew any decent lads they wouldn't be breeding pups that weren't wanted, and he gave up breeding because he was sick of travellers coming round looking pups, he must have been breeding a lot of litters for that to be a problem, and now he wants to breed for looks because that way his dog won't end up in a shelter...... but don't worry he wasn't breeding for money, he was only making £475 a pup when he could of had £700 rant over Edited May 30, 2010 by Wild_and_Irish Quote Link to post

poacherman 353
get yourselfs a saluki greeyhound x whippet greyhound and yous wont look elsewhere. you wont need to because that type of dog will do everything you want if you train and enter it right. manchester terrier crosses might be alright dogs but there never the way forward. would never compete against saluki grey for coursing and the all rounder first cross collie greyhound. or if its just for foxes why dont you just get yourself a bullx. preban obv. atb poacherman Quote Link to post
tinytiger 822
whats is the point in breeding mad kind of lurcher lyk poodle lurchers and other stupid things why not stick to the original type of lurchers lyk deerhound greys, saluki geys, colli greys, beddy grey, bull greys and your basic lurcher cross lurcher some people just make you laugh at some of the stuff they come out with on this web site Yes stick to the original type of lurchers lyk Manchester terriers breed from the old english black & tan by crossing to whippets for rabbiting, rating, and taking fox. who needs all these new breeds saluki geys, colli greys, beddy grey, bull greys and your basic lurcher cross lurcher these people just make you laugh ! ££££££££££££ A quotation from Bewicks book The General History of Quadrupeds, published in 1790 confirms the continued existence of the type and states “There are two types of terrier, one being smooth and sleek, beautifully formed, reddish brown or black in colour with tanned legs, and is similar to the rough terrier in disposition and faculties but smaller in size, strength and hardiness. Daniel in his 1802 book Rural Sports writes about “Types of terriers which are elegant and sprightly, with smooth coats black in body and tanned on the leg". The "Small black and tan terriers" were working dogs, used to kill rats. Those of a larger type were also used to work larger prey such as foxes. The Kennel Club has placed Manchester Terriers on its list of 'Vulnerable Native Breeds', because the number of registrations is low. As a result breed enthusiasts have been encouraging anyone with a Manchester Terrier to breed a litter to increase the numbers. the dogs reffered to in the books above, would be more similar to the fell types of today than the dogs you are breeding.
