Daniel in his 1802 book Rural Sports writes about Types of terriers which are elegant and sprightly, with smooth coats black in body and tanned on the leg". The "Small black and tan terriers" were working dogs, used to kill rats. Those of a larger type were also used to work larger prey such as foxes. The Kennel Club has placed Manchester Terriers on its list of 'Vulnerable Native Breeds', because the number of registrations is low. As a result breed enthusiasts have been encouraging anyone with a Manchester Terrier to breed a litter to increase the numbers. Edited May 29, 2010 by Black&Tans Quote Link to post

I really hope that is said with toungue firmly in cheek B&T's, because if you really believe that, it's gonna be a fecking travesty that you breed anything at all! Books from the 18th centrury.........!!! When breeding any type of working dog, it's about deeds........ Not words! Quote Link to post
