Yes stick to the original type of lurchers lyk Manchester terriers breed from the old english black & tan by crossing to whippets for rabbiting, rating, and taking fox.

who needs all these new breeds saluki geys, colli greys, beddy grey, bull greys and your basic lurcher cross lurcher these people just make you laugh ! ££££££££££££

A quotation from Bewicks book The General History of Quadrupeds, published in 1790 confirms the continued existence of the type and states There are two types of terrier, one being smooth and sleek, beautifully formed, reddish brown or black in colour with tanned legs, and is similar to the rough terrier in disposition and faculties but smaller in size, strength and hardiness.

Daniel in his 1802 book Rural Sports writes about Types of terriers which are elegant and sprightly, with smooth coats black in body and tanned on the leg".

The "Small black and tan terriers" were working dogs, used to kill rats. Those of a larger type were also used to work larger prey such as foxes.

The Kennel Club has placed Manchester Terriers on its list of 'Vulnerable Native Breeds', because the number of registrations is low. As a result breed enthusiasts have been encouraging anyone with a Manchester Terrier to breed a litter to increase the numbers.

I really hope that is said with toungue firmly in cheek B&T's, because if you really believe that, it's gonna be a fecking travesty that you breed anything at all!

Books from the 18th centrury.........!!! When breeding any type of working dog, it's about deeds........ Not words!
