tiny tim 22
yeah catching the tope and smoothies in the same area but we were using traces of different lengths on 100lb nylon.the shorter traces of 3 foot caught bull huss and doggies,4 foot caught bull huss doggies and the tope and 6foot trace only caught smooth hounds....we were using squid as bait on 100 lb nylon to an 8/0 hook...i,m not sure what the fish weighed as we have no scales but i,m guesing at 30 odd pound...all returned alive Quote Link to post

tiny tim 22
not a massive fish for the area but nice to catch...theres been a lot caught around the 35 mark recently...just nice to get out on the boat after a long winter..good day flat calm ,red hot and a fish every drop ...we probaly had about 15 smooth hounds which is better thasn catching doggies..i learnt something as well about the length of trace..
