SHOTGUNSNIPER 47
Currently there are 3 main big game hunting records keeping organizations and I have heard no mention of them on this site. For those with a curious nature may I suggest a Google of one of these..... 1. Safari Club International - 2. Boone and Crocket - Firearms hunting records... USA 3. Pope and Young - This is strictly an archery organization.. USA Is there a UK or European hunting records organization? Clint Borat on Safari...... SGS

Tyla 3,179
Ive always enjoyed your posts up to now, why have you suddenly decided to try and incite arguement? In answer to your question, i believe records of deer trophies are kept but we dont have the big spectacular game you have which lents itself to trophy hunting. In answer to your question, i believe records of deer trophies are kept but we dont have the big spectacular game you have which lents itself to trophy hunting. Yes I reckconed that this post would be ignored or attacked - The Boone and Crocket records and the Pope and Young records were started for scientific purposes as a running log to gain an insight as to what is the median representation of a species horn measuring for deer and skull measuring for non horned species was for scientific reason's -- So originally the books were kept for the Animals benefits sportsman have changed that and now getting a trophy so a hunter can get his name in the book is a big part of the record keeping... I personally like to eat venison and will shoot a small buck after the first week of the season or if I am only hunting fo a day or two - we are only allowed 1 deer per year in Arizona... I have a few entry's in Pope & Young no big deal... I was hoping to get some one over there to at least read about these organizations and possibly gain an understanding of what hunting in the US is about.... Yes I was poking around for a discussion about this... You might be surprized SCI may have a record or two taken in the UK ....
Tyla 3,179
Im sure records are kept for the same reasons over here on the deer. Im not a deer stalker but im pretty sure there is a system for grading heads with the larger or better quality heads being silver or gold medal heads. The best place to ask would be in the deer stalking section, you'll get the full info on there. I dont think many record kills of other species unless perhaps in a game book. The small game we have here foxes, rabbits, hare etc dont lend themselves to being made into trophies although, usually with colour variation, some will preserve skins. It would be interesting to know exactly how much game was taken annually but, to my knowledge, there is no organisation that keeps that kind of record.
