JackReid 35
Hey guys. So as I will mention in my OTHER problem thread I'm sending my gun off for a full tune at Sandwell Fieldsports... I took my scope off my rifle today - Hawke Varmint II 3-12X44. Cracking scope everything is spot on, amazing optics. I decided to help some of my more amatuer gunning mates out. One has a BSA Supersport that he used to just take out rabbits at ranges less than 30m. For about a year its had a grouping the size of a football andf he doesnt really shoot anymore so after me getting screws tight, padding out the stock etc it seemed to get better. But I did the final test today and put my scope on it. Within not long I was shooting really good groupings at 20meters so he can use it for plinking/hunting closer range stuff again and it must be his scope thats died over the years whether through an impact or just shaken to death with recoil as its a really twanger of a fire cycle. Then all of a sudden I see something come lose and this is what happened. Obviously its just come off its glueing which is annoying. It fits back into place perfectly however as I was at a rough range of 15-20 meters when it happened I dont know where to push it back on and glue it in relation the the line i nthe scope!!!! I phoned Hawke and spoke to a very helpful woman who said at Hawke they use a machine that sets it to 100yard on the adjustable objective on the highest magnification and finds the clearest picture then its attached. She said you can do it yourself but if you want send it in and they will do it. I think I have worked out where it should be in relation to my Scope lens covers as the end one is set upright at 25meters if you understand like in the picture? However I dont want to be wrong as it may have shifted. Essentially I could be a few yards out on the adjustable peice, does this really matter that much as everyones eye is different? If I were to do it myself should I use really strong glue and apply very thiin and just go for it?? After this I took my scope of straight away, must be sending some real vibrations down the scope if it did that? Then again maybe it was coming loose and that sorta vibration just finished it off?? Anyone had this happen and what shall I do? Do it myself or send it to them (have to find and buy MORE packaging as I have nothing to package my gun also to send to Sandwell Fieldsports). Peice of mind would be a factor if I sent it to them but I dont know... Jack Quote Link to post
JackReid 35
I would usually have it a bit more than 25 yards o nthe parallax, so more than in this picture as I do my ranging in meters. notice its in line with the scope lens cover top. However I cant be certain it was a time where it wasnt straight. Is it possible to do this for my own eye myself? Quote Link to post

Phantom 631
Hey Jack Hawke will probably send you a brand spanking new one out as soon as they recieve that one (most companies do that) Perhaps even a better model if your lucky Get some bubble wrap from the quid shop wrap it well around the scope or around the scope box and It'll be fine. Postage will depend on weight, cant see it being that heavy so recorded 1st class would be £5 to £7 I reckon, Phantom Quote Link to post
