need some help

Recommended Posts

hello, not long ago i was given a 10month old deerhound wheaten grayhound, he is a canny beast but i had him out with the hand lamp last nite and must have ran about 20+ rabbits and he only got one and then droped it. I got him some right easy runs on young rabbits clamped down, he had plenty of chance to grab them but it was like he was just playing with them. is this somthing he will grow out of or is there anything i can do to help?

cheers, Tom

wait till september. let him watch another dog to get wound up abit then give him one the end of the night. you'll only ruin his confidence giving him so many runs like that.

It can take deerhound crosses a lot longer to mature. So i wouldn't be trying to start him to young if i was you pal you could end up ruining hm.

You'd prob be better waiting until the season starts in September and then try him. He prob just to puppyish at the minute.thumbs.gif

Fencehopper I agree that jealousy is a great incentive to get a dog going, on the negative side could using this method bring frustration into the dog and maybe begin to open up/give tongue?? Not questioning you at all bud, i haven't got a scooby about lurchers but I am sure thats a possibility.
