longnet

thinking of getting a couple of longnets to use when ferretin.never done it before and heard its a bit of an art.is it really hard getting to grips with setting them up.what sort of material are the better ones made off.any advice for a complete novice would be great.cheers.atb mat.

Long Nets arent difficult, a bit of practice before hand and you will pick it up in no time. You can get them in various materials, nylon, hemp etc. I have always used 4z and 6z nylon, as it tolerates being hung up and left when wet, were hemp will have to be dried otherwise it will rot. As well as this, nylon is lighter to carry when wet!

iam also a beginner,i would suggest getting the book LONGNETTING FROM PEG TO PEG by martin king,is it traditional or quickset you are planning on buying,either way this book will explain all,hope this helps cheers......johnthumbs.gif

I prefer 6z it doesn't seem to pick up the crap so much .But what ever you go with go to a playing field run it out pick it up a few times a week you will know your way round it before the end of the summer
