Now what you going to contribute, con your dog enough times mate and it will cotton on, then what you going to try. show me a lurcher that dont like chasing stuff.when the dog realises that the action is were your at it will start gladly returning.ive had a few lurchers from an older age and some are very difficult to train.i agree that most can be trained but imho this is a quick solution that works.sometimes you can put allthe training in you like to a pup.when it starts the real thing then exitement can take over.my reply is a solution to help the dog realize there is more of this good stuff to come if i go back to the owner.and my first post was a contribution you miserable git Quote Link to post

I once won a bet with a bloke who reckoned I couldn't stop my dog when running a couple of yards behind a rabbit. The dog I won the bet with was bedlington cross. I've trained Saluki crosses to a high standard as well . So most are trainable. And your right I am a miserable git at times, just heated discussion mate , no offence intended. Quote Link to post

Wild_and_Irish 11
Once your dog has had a couple of rabbits and learns to run the beam or realises that's the only place he'll catch them he'll give up hunting on, my dog hesitated coming back at the start and was 100% recall in the day without ever using treats. Just shine the lamp at your feet and he'll come bounding in every time then a pat on the head and back on the slip. Another thing, if you let your dog have a run about for 20 minutes before you start walking fields they will settle a bit. Good luck Quote Link to post
Guest alastair
its no good tiring it out lamping it you just teaching it to carry on,put it in front of quad, truck etc and give it a mile on the lane first.then in field slip it as soon as it misses say, lamp off and turn and walk out of field giving a well trained recall ,click, here, back whatever you trained the recall on.then once it realizes the fun stops when the lamps off hell learn, turning the light on in another plce will just make the dog worse cause hell come out the dark, side on start looking for quarry, you must slip him up after every course.
