nessie122 0
Hi, I've just bought an AirArms S410 SL Xtra FAC in .22 calibre. Im am just about to set it up with my MTC Taipan 4-16*50 scope and want to obtain some advise as to what would be the best distance to zero it in at, it will be mainly used for rabbits, squirrels & crows. I intend running it at full power of approximately 25-30 ft/lb. Cheers Nessie Quote Link to post

zini 1,939
What pellet will you be using pal? Ill tell you then better mate. On a Air Arms Field at 15.985 grain if you zero at 40 yards you will stay within a 2.5cm kill zone from 10 yards to 45.5 yards on 25 FP of power. or 44 yards if your rifle is pushing out 30 FP with AA Fields again. Staying within a 2.5 cm kill zone from 11 yards to 49.5 yards. Quote Link to post

What is the program you use to tell this info? Cheers Nessie Quote Link to post

nasher1 258
With the scope you are using I would zero at all different ranges and mark them on the elevation turret, I was out last week with a chap using the same gun as you and the 18 grain pellets he had a rangefinder and when he saw a target he just found out the distance clicked it on the scope and shot it, he even took out a woodpigeon at 82 yards, I was very impressed with his setup. atb nasher Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Yep Nasher buddy that’s also another good way of doing your hold over. Chairgun Pro will even print out your elevation turret aim points in clicks for you if you wish it to. This style of hunting using a bullet drop compensating turret (BDC) is very effective in day light from a static location where you range the target with either you AO or LRF and then dial in the distance. I used to use it myself with my Gun Power Stealth and Simmons Pro Air scope before I moved on to mil dots then multi aim point (MAP) and specialised reticule (SR) scopes. Si Quote Link to post
