fellpack 7
Hi all have had to post this as a concern basicly I keep a cat in the house with the terriers have had for the last 15 years but 6mths ago my cat walked into the living room and started to puke to the point she looked at death door. Contacted the vet who wanted the cat up ASAP to which I responded to within 15mins the vet run her hands over the cat and told me she suspected a tumor she gave the cat an injection which I paid £110 for and kept her overnight. The next day I collected the cat after talking to the vet this time a man he said the cat is suffering and he needed to do mre checks to get to the problem the wife upset I agreed £235 later the cat has a tumor but will need a blood transplant which can only be done in a collage vet lab hw much I asked to which he said is the cat insured NO I said he nodded and said £7000 but could not guaranteed the cat would survive but was worth the op as the cat was fit every other way ( not surpraised as she has to deal with hiper terriers) but anyway I decided to put her down as 15 is a good age so we decided to do it the next monday. The vet phoned every night for 4 nights asking to get the cat in but wanted the family to say good buy over the week end. Sunday night the cat recovered started eaten and back sporting with the terriers QUESTION was the puking a death door a hair ball that hurt her was the vets injection the reason she lay up without food for a week was the vet phoning me because he new the cat would recover and wanted her out the way I think he was after the £7000 insurance. Beware the cat is still going 6mths later Edited May 25, 2010 by fellpack

Dawn B 212
Wow! Strange indeed but Im pleased for you. Im kind of siding with you that the Cat wasnt in fact as "ill" as first said. Id ask for ALL the history, blood results etc.. and say you are seeking a second opinion based on the fact your Cat has miraculously improved by itself!! See what they say. Id give this ago, though i dont think youll get far.Ive had cats for 25years & been ripped off many times by vets. But never to this extent. It's also taken me this long to find a good, honest vet who's not just about the money. Glad to hear the cats doin well. Not a bad age that.
Guest chook
Think that vet was talking out his arse, 4 years ago i had to take my cat up to the vet school, he needed another op, he had already had one at my own vets, unfotunaly his uretha ended up restricted, and he couldnt pee, the vet ended up having to do a sub pubic, in other words removing his penis and relocating the tubes to under his belly, at the vets school it cost me just under 2 grand, he was kept in for a few days, altogether the cat ended costing me around 4 grand, for near enough 2 months he was back and forth from my vets, must have spent about 3 weeks in total at the vets, staying in days hear and their, tests, presript food, drugs etc. What checks did the vets do? did they even do any x-rays or scans or even blood work, tbh i would have gone and seen the manager of the vets, see what he has to say. Beware the cat is still going 6mths later Well there is a recession on,but they were 'at it'before the recession,at the end of the day they are running a 'profitable' business, nothing to do with caring etc; They are skilled in what they do but choose to abuse your trust,it's probably a long shot but if that was me i would be questioning their diagnosis and try to reclaim some of the money back(£110 for an injection, wow, what was that stuff?),your cat is living proof they tried to rip you off, either that or the cat still had a few lives left, Higgins. sandymere 8,263
How about going to the vet and saying the cat seems fine and asking what the situation is, if the MRI took place and a tumor was found then there may be conservative treatment that can help, ie diet change. If the vet made an honest mistake then he will have opportunity to explain himself and may offer a refund of some sort. If they decline to discuss then become suspicious and ask for the MRI result to get a second opinion.
