Boysie 12
According to the Environment Agency, the £27 licence covers.. Non-migratory trout, char, freshwater fish (coarse fish) and eels So does that means coarse fish, Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, and Grayling are ok to catch in England? Just not Salmon and Sea Trout? Also, fishing on the River Tweed does not require a Rod Licence, is there any law / limit on what I can and can't catch? Thanks Quote Link to post

THE GRIFF 8
What you have said is correct, but remember there is a close season for course fish on rivers until the 16th june. To check what fish you can and can't take and your fish limits you can check the Environment Agency website for local bylaws, everywhere is different, for example the salmon season starts earlier in my area (Middlebrough) than it does in York/Leeds, even though you can't keep any until the 16th June. I know you haven't got a salmon licence and this won't apply to you but this is just an example of different bylaws for different regions and rivers. You are also limited to what baits you can use on rivers until the 16th June, for example you can't use maggot for trout on a river until the 16th June because this would be classed as fishing for course fish(but you can use worm or fly).
