plenty of knuckle

Recommended Posts

Look at the dogs front wrists...when they are pups/still growing the wrists will be very pronounced...ie..look swollen...when they stop growing the wrists should be shrunk back and in proportion with the dogs legs...hope this helps...atb stabba

what does it mean when people say a pup has plenty of knuckle so it has more growing to do? chhers.

Knuckle (growth plates ) are at the dogs wrists as mentioned, the plate is the last to mature and harden, generally speaking the bigger the knuckle, many believe the bigger the dog will grow but not always the case. These bones need protection from shock or damage, ie; jumping and twisting to early especially on hard ground.

Some do not mature until 9-18 months in bigger dogs, so take care and dont over do it.
