Can anyone tell me what this type of trap would sell for. I asked a friend in Canada to send me a trap, just to hang in my shed for display only, anyway he sent me 3 of these and I only want 1 so was going to put the other 2 on that auction site. This is the advert I will use, but I don`t know what reserve to put on.

Gin Trap, Leg Hold Trap. This trap is brand new from Canada, it measures 6 inches across the jaws when set (open) it is designed to catch and hold Lynx and Bobcat size animals. It has 2 springs to give it extra power and has a strong 8 inch tethering chain with a swivel attached. Very sturdy and well made to last for years.

Please note that this trap is for display purposes only as it is illegal to use this type of trap to catch animals anywhere in the UK.

As I have already said " For display and Please note that this trap is for display purposes only as it is illegal to use this type of trap to catch animals anywhere in the UK." All I asked for was for a sensible answer as to what they are worth. Thanks a lot.

That's a DUKE made Steel Trap, mate. Many US Trappers wouldn't have one on their line. Many others say they're fine, because they're economical and it doesn't hurt so bad if they get stolen.

Being as they're brand new and available, ye wouldn't get much off the Bay for one.

Sad fact is that no one I know ever started Collecting the Duke brand from word one. Because that guy listens to Trappers and will bend and twist his designs according to their requests. Result being there are (or have been) an infinate variety of slight tweaks made to this range over the last handful of years that he's been in business. I doubt any of his first production run even exists now.

As one guy once said, on a North American Trappers forum; " On a still, quiet evening, ye can sit out on the veranda and listen to the sound of ye Duke traps; Quietly falling to pieces in ye Trap Shed! "

Never forgotten that one! :D
