runforyourlife 361
Earth go get that grassie off co chise, hook it up, and get on a cat water, you'll soon have one pal. Then you will have had 2 fish you have never caught on the same rod.... Quote Link to post
"Earth!" 503
nice fish co. not many fish cought but still a good crack and some fine coocked grub There is a small pond in the middle of an industrial estate in Bedford holds loads of coarse fish But it holds 7 carp over 30LLb and a grass carp well over a metre long hardly anyone knows its there , ive not been there for years, remind me please.... your too far away to fish it cant blame a man for trying.wouldnt want to anyways mate.ive plenty of waters which hold big carp but i aint a carp fisherman.been there, done that although i may go dangle a worm with a stalking rod if this hot weather carries on LOL I just fished it for eels but fed the carp with floaters just to see what was what. just fished it for eels, catch any?? Yes quite a few ..Some good eel waters round Bedford way decent sizes as well theres alot of eels around bedford is there? whats the average weight and what weight do they reach on the norm? do you target them at night? Now theres an idea not caught a zander(dont have them on any waters i fish ) Or a barbel either although there are some stonkers around here.suppose IF i fished for them i would BUT i like my pike, perch and eels too much to bother with them Quote Link to post
donnyc 1,203
The Ouse around bedford has plenty of decent eels pike and perch ..Its the old pits that hold the biggest though .3lbsers are plentiful best Ive had was 6.12oz.best perch out the same water was 3.12oz.The Ouse has good barbel, chub, perch, roach its a good river to fish .I prefer the old pits around Bedford though Quote Link to post
donnyc 1,203
Oh yeah I night fish for them with tail sections..If your first one has a small mouth they usually prefer worms the larger mouthed ones prefer dead bait .Very distinct difference in the mouths found the bigger ones are the larger mouthed ones Quote Link to post

As for the eels, yea sure they like deads but try a good sized livey, just below the surface, you may find you'll catch the biggest Eel in the water! A warm muggy night with no moon and a good sized live roach (bottom lip hooked, so it lives longer) flapping about on or near the surface will do you proud. It also eliminates the smaller eels... Dontv use a float rig, use a suspended rig, or even a good strong pop up rig. The same as what you'd use for cats on a surface livebait, but trimmed down.. Quote Link to post
