THE GRIFF 8
After going lamping last night and not hiting a single rabbit I have looked at my AA 510 this morning and found the problem. I set up a target board against the shed at about 20 yards and couldn't even hit the shed. When I looked down the barrel I noticed the inner lip on the silencer was burred where a pellet had caught it, this burr on on the silencer was throwing the pellets a mile out. Because i had camo cloth around the gun i hadn't noticed that the silencer come slightly loose(by about half a thread) and this is why it had been catching. I tightened up the silencer and removed the small burr then tried shooting it again. It still won't shoot anywhere near with the silencer on. As soon as i remove the silencer it fires perfect. Because I have now removed the burr on the inside lip on the end of the silencer will this now be affecting the aerodynamics of the pellet coming out of the gun because I cant think what else it could be.? Has anyone else suffered from anything like this before? Quote Link to post
garfield 23
give bill saunders at aa a ring and see if he can help you fella seems like a manufacturing fault Quote Link to post
THE GRIFF 8
just spoke to chriss at airarms and he said try a new moderator, sounds like the other one had unthreded slightly or it may of been double cocked and one of the pellets has caught it. Quote Link to post
garfield 23
so the problem is with a extra silencer on the end of the shrouded barrel?? aahhh i thought it was a prob with the barrel shroud on the 510 or maybee the thread on the end cap Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
Griff, Your post emphasises what I and a few others always say. Allways check your zero before you go at live quarry, even if its only a couple or five shots at a stone on the ground at your chosen zero range then if your missing you can take steps to rectify the problem and hopefully you'll not come back with an empty bag and feeling frustrated I do this as a matter of course, for a couple of reasons: 1 somedays I can't shoot right if I'm grouping 10 shots over an inch I come home and try again another day! 2 somedays, the rifle may be playing up; I had a loose bolt on the stock and couldn't figure out why I couldn't hit a barn door! 3 I don't want to wound any quarry. SEAN3513 7
and always check the "loose" parts of your rifle, before shooting. a small "nip" of the moderator prior to shooting could have saved you a lot of hastle. double loading is the only down side of the 510 imo, unlike the hw100 which will only allow one pellet in the breech. not sure if they will cover your problem under warranty ?? either way hope you get it sorted Quote Link to post

Phantom I normally do check the zero, but on saturday night my gun needed filling up before I went so I had to fill it up on the way at a mates house (my bottle needs filling up). I know its no excuse but when we got to the new permission the farmer had guests in the cottage next to where we parked and I didn't want to upset anyone by firing close to the house. One thing led to another and before we new it we were out in the fields. I certainly wont be making the same mistake again and will ALWAYS be checking my zero in future. Quote Link to post
THE GRIFF 8
Could be Silencer or Barrel threaded off line Not unherd of these day's from any manufacture Try another Silencer and your Silencer on another Gun No Reason not to be covered by manufactures Warrenty BOB/R I have had the gun nearly 2 years so I don't think its a manufacturing fault on the barrel or the silencer, maybe the silencer has been knocked at some point and is now out of line because even though I have removed the burr its still catching. I need to try a different silencer on it just to make sure the threads on the barrel haven't been damaged. Quote Link to post
