hogdog 61
Originally bred as a ratting dog, I wondered if there is anyone still working them. I know they're quite rare so it's a long shot but I always find it interesting to here about other breeds and what they're like when working. Thanks Quote Link to post

steviemann 5
Originally bred as a ratting dog, I wondered if there is anyone still working them. I know they're quite rare so it's a long shot but I always find it interesting to here about other breeds and what they're like when working. Thanks As I've said before, my mother has one. Horrible sickly, timid thing it is! It was supposed to have come from working stock but IMO just another f*****g pedler knocking out shite pups for an extortionate price!!! Quote Link to post
hogdog 61
They may have gone the wrong way like so many other breeds which is a shame, one of the oldest British breeds bred for a purpose and yet it seems they're not what they're supposed to be. If I had room I'd have some to try and get them back to how they used to be, you can't blame the breed if the breeders have messed it up. Quote Link to post

hogdog 61
There is one next door to me and my lasses cock is bigger. Who says size isnt everything? There's two types, one of them being the Toy version. The standard is supposed to be about 15-16" at the shoulder. Quote Link to post

Reading a bit about them they say they're getting rarer and are on a list of dogs that are in danger of dissapearing that's why they can get away with charging that much??? Maybe it's a viscous circle? The more expensive they are the less they get used and bred, the less are bred the more expensive they are. I can't imagine it's because they can't do the job, I'm sure they could in the right hands with the right breeding. Quote Link to post
