So EARTH fcuk you Mo Fo! i fish for mine on the bottom during the night mate with bite alarms.i usually fish the near or far side bank.size 8 or 10 single hook..its addictive, when you hook one, dont play or let it run, keep lots of tension.if the make it to a snag, they will wrap their self around it then you have lost the fish..surely give a better fight than many fisherman would imagine as they swim backward as good as they do forward. tomburras 2,730
As earth said is a good guide. Try fish on one rod and worms on another to see if they are feeding on invertabrates or predatory and eating fish, then swap both rods to whats working, also look for holes / shelfs in the lake bed (if you trying on a lake) Edited May 23, 2010 by tomburras Quote Link to post

SEAN3513 7
8 or 10 singles....i just "finger" the line ......more sensative then a float and you need to act quickly when they bite ( they can be very very gentle when they take) peeler crab for salt water and garden worms for fresh water take some old newspapers use one to hold the eel when de-hooking....soaks up the eel mucas / slime so you can keep a firm hold. if you catch any.......you will need to skin them. i nail them through the head to the shed door, cut the skin around the head ( right round) and then peel it off ( pulling hard down towards the tail) good luck sean Quote Link to post

fmwtc 12
get a metal can ie like an old style 5 litre oil can and pierce it with holes with a sharp instrument like a big ish knife the holes need to be big enough for an eel to get in fill it with cat food or fish heads anything smelly tie the can by the handle with blue pull rope and throw out into river pond whatever you want the trick is the eels go in but the sharp edges on the inside prevents em gettin back out ideal way of catching em if you want a few for pot but like earth and others say if for sport there way is better on a good night you will fill the can easy as long as there is eels. about a dead cat is top bait Edited May 23, 2010 by fmwtc Quote Link to post
