Letter to my MP

Recommended Posts

Dear Shaun Woodward,

I have contacted you previously concerning your views on fox hunting. I am writing to you again in light of the proposal of a free vote on overturning the hunting act. Last time you stated you supported the ban. I plea with you to reconsider on grounds of human rights.

As i explained last time i contacted you, in my childhood the freedom to hunt allowed me to bond with nature, kept me of the streets and out of trouble, and most importantly to me, taught me to admire and respect nature. All of which most urban raised children do not get to see. I hope this silly law which makes criminals of otherwise law abiding citizens, can be overturned so that when i have children they can enjoy the freedom i once did and learn more about life, wildlife and fauna, from the countryside than they ever could from a bias media documentary.

I hope as a labour MP you can put what seems to be a class and political issue of naturally opposing anything cons support to one side, and reconsider your opinion on the basis that although its not something you would personally enjoy nor participate in, you feel that others who may want to do so have the freedoms to do so legally.

I am from a working class family who have always voted labour(and did this year) This being the first general election i am old enough to vote in, i sadly felt i could not vote labour, as during my life time, all they seem to of done is introduce laws taking people liberty's and restricting freedoms. I hope you can break this mold and find it within you to help return our freedoms, allowing me to vote labour next time.

Yours sincerely,

What you lot reckon?

Write to your mp prior to any potential free vote. It might not make a difference, then again it might!

Ask him to explain his reasons, he doesn't seem to know himself why he's in favour of a ban

Well heres my reply from him, in typical polititian response, alot of text with little value to it. He wonders of even mentioning racism. What the f**k has racism got to do with fox hunting.

Read a few things about him, i found out he started of a conservative MP and got SACKED. Hes has property across the world worth over £16m and was educated at Harvard Uni. Hes MP for labour, how the hell can he represent the working man with a history like that? I think hes out for himself and as i suspected, anti conservates for his own reasons which i have now discovered and stated.

Racism has nothing to with foxhunting ..he was using that as an example

What he's saying your right to hunting is being limited in the same way as someone inciting racial hatred or someone telling you its ok to commit violent crimes to someone because of their race colour or creed.

Basically the majority don't want either fox hunting or racism ..so its outlawed so to speak

No chimp read it again, i said i couldnt bring myself to do it even though the rest of the fam are labour supporters. Actually everyone in my family as far as i know spread thier votes between BNP and UKIP, i voted cons and BNP. Politians lie, so i thought what was the harm in bending the truth and saying family still voted labour, if it would allow me to relate to him - it didnt, it failed :icon_redface:
