Redding Competition Dies

I am looking for either a set of Redding Competition dies or at least the Competition bullet seating die in .243 win. Also looking for same in .270 win. I'm also looking for an overall length gauge - Stoney Point or Hornady.

Unless someone is changing calibres you have no chance - they are regarded as probably the best - if they were to change them it would only be downwards.

Unless someone is changing calibres you have no chance - they are regarded as probably the best - if they were to change them it would only be downwards.

The point of my post dear chap was to say (as I did) you wont find anyone who will want to sell you a competition die set unless they are changing calibre - once you own a die set such as these you will never sell them - basically what I originally posted but I have added a few extra words this time.

You haven't explained the point of your post - you have merely repeated it. How am I expected to know of the availability of an item unless I post a request asking the simple question which I did.

 

How do you know I won't find anyone selling the items I am looking for - are you psychic? or just someone who has nothing better to do than to write mundane posts.

hi mate, i believe what the man is trying to say is UNLESS someone is changing calibre, you will not get someone to sell the dies UNLESS they are selling up all together,

 

the competition set or die, is regarded as the top of the league of the dies, And who would want to downgrade....!!!!

well the only upgrade from the redding is prob to wilson dies.

As said you might be lucky with this post but think for these dies you will need to buy new. As for an AOL gauge just keep any cases with split necks & use these to get a seating depth. I do have a stoney point & dont use it as i prefere the split case neck way. You do need to neck size the case etc first but very good method.

 

well the only upgrade from the redding is prob to wilson dies.

There's nowt in it as you know & i dont think general shooters like myself would see a diffrence in accuracy over the redding.

i agree the only good thing about the wilson is you can take it to the range or in the field with you if you wanted to test ammo.

as for the split case way of getting your chamber mesurement it works but imo isnt as accurate as the stoney point gauge

 

for the simple fact is if you have to knock the case out with the rod. whats to say you havent pushed the bullet in the case more ?

when you come to mesure it you wont have a true reading. of course if you do it a number of times then take the average col size you should be there or there about

Sorry but i havent had to knock any cases out of my rifle & thats a tikka695 & a remmy700. I have had the odd case & bullet as you discribe years ago but have sorted that out & have no prob's now & i have a stoney point gauge with cases taped out of my own rifles & im now thinking of trying to make a stainless one now as im bored just now.
