martindevon 0
hello all. im getting a dog but got a slight concern. i want to go rabbiting and i live on a air force base so i got loads of land to work, except i dont know any one near me who works whippets/lurchers etc and im a bit worried about bringing on a pup when there isnt any other dogs for it to learn from. is it easy to bring a dog on byitself or sould i really take it out with more experianced dogs. i wouldnt want to get a pup and not be able to bring it on good cheers Quote Link to post
all.rounder 3
mate.i took my bitch out lamping by herself when she was 8 months.and she learnt herself. so i wouldn't worry about it.if you've got you own land to hunt keep it to yourself.this is my bitches 3rd time out. Quote Link to post
poacher3161 1,766
Dont worry about it but edge your bets by getting a lurcher pup out of working parents preferabley with a few generations of workers in its make up trained then to a level of obeidiance every thing will fall into place if their is game for it to run Quote Link to post
