lurcherpup 0
what i would like to know is do most, not all bull x owners think their dogs are not good enought to compete against other lurchers, which is why they have to have their own class. as most lurchers compete against each other what ever the cross. just a thought
wetdogsmell 99
well i don't realy show my lurchers but i thought it was cos theres so many bull x's, they must be great dogs if theres so many of them but i guess you know that and are just 1 of those anti bull sausage jockeys all the best

Strong Stuff 2,171
Nothing to do with being better or worse ............ It's about the dog being picked out when judged against others in the ring of a similar type. Yes you could put them in with the O 23" smooth dogs, but even then there's a big difference in type. Bottom line is though, it's all for fun and it's the donation toward the hunt that counts.

I've always said, they are all fecking Lurchers and 'should' be in the same classes, with each being Judged on its composition 'to type' BUT over the years i've seen many judges fight shy of going over bull crosses in the ring, never mind picking one out against other Lurcher types. No extra classes on for Wheaten crosses etc..... Whats the difference..... Hair? Oh and then there is the "them's not propper Lurchers" line, usually lobbed in from someone who is trying to exibit his Cavalier King Charles X Whippet 'street accident', that'll dust any one of those donkeys on anything, "they could never catch a rabbit"! But SS is right, its all fun, money 'should' be going to support something hunting related, so get out and enjoy your summer! This summer i'll be looking for a show with a 'Pirate class' for my one eyed dog, see how many of them there is......! Edited May 17, 2010 by Bosun11

Fabapocalypse 35
It's funny watching a non bull-cross person judging a bull-cross class... Firstly they will have avoided placing anything with obvious bull blood in any of the other classes. Then in the bull-cross class, first place will go to a dog that looks like it's not been any closer to bull blood than seeing one in the park once. Just to prove that the judge "isn't prejudiced" against bull-crosses, second will go to something heavy and lumbering and so huge it is actually scary. The rest of the places will go in order of the judge's favourite colours. But it's all a laugh and hopefully the funds from the entry fees help somebody somewhere. surrey lass 12
unfortunately some judges stereo type bull x's seeing them as aggressive, and some i have come across have been, but its not the dogs its the owner i have owned 2 one very bully and one you wouldn't even think she had bull in her, i have judged a few shows and if a bull x is good enough to win it will, its all down to your own preference as a judge at the end of the day, a show is just a day out meeting likewise folk, it doesn't earn your bread and butter and should never taken too serious we all have a competative streak and like to win, but if your dogs does what you ask of it in what ever field that may be, then you all take home the best dogs,
jambay5 191
Depends on what the judge is looking for the bullx at pickering was one by a dog that look like an over size staffy!! yet there were a few dogs in the ring that looked racey never got a look in!! doggs 10
When i judged The Heart of Wales show the other week I put a bull x bitch up 1st against all sorts of other smooth coated bitches. The owner doesn't put her in the bullx class for some reason. But thats his choice at the end of the day and she was better than your "NORMAL" lurchers on the day. When i judge it's the best one on the the day regardless off breeding, and I am a Bullx owner.
