it will come naturally mate, if you are on about rabbits, make sure your dog can see them. Get a rabbit skin on a dummy tie a long piece of string to it and make him chase that about, that will start him off. I have a 7month whippet bitch and she will chase anything that I let her, its just natural.Don't rush it, he is still young and good luck!

Go out just before sunset or early in the morning just before sunrise, to a field wheres theres plenty of rabbits and try walking him upto some squaters, get as close as you can, he should hopefully see them and when they bolt slip him, (as long as he can see it), then you will see how his drive is at the moment and if he doesnt run then he will need more work, so you could do something like what rory sed!! Good Luck Mate!!

Hi mate i'v just bought a whippet, he's 18 month old I got him from a dog show I went to with my mate, gorgeous looking thing it's my first dog but been out alot with my mate who has 13 dogs all together and he liked it bit he was very timid, shy and petrified of cars also the guy had only had him out on the lamp a few times but never caught anything and he said he use to nick off for a while he didn't seem co fidebt in te dog at all, anyway i'v had him nearly a month now and he is a completely different dog, I was worried at first that he wouldn't chase because he wasn't interested at all in a dead rabbit but I soon found that it's just naturally in them to do it, we took him out to my mates permission after about a week of basic training just calling him back and being with my mates dogs, and he was excellent, hunting up, coming back when I called him everything, he was keen as mustard but my mate said he could tell he'd never caught one and needed more experience but after a few times out now he sure knows what he's doing, and he now knows why he is going in the car so it's gave him more confidence and now jumps in the car on his own. but just hang in there mate you still have plenty of time I have no doubt you will have your first one in the bag in no time
