Not asking for much then No offence mate but thats a wee bit forward, if not cheeky. I'm sure some farmers would give you some ground to do your thing on if you offer them a free hand labouring or doing wee jobs. Hope some kind person on here offers this wee man a hand to get started the right way - if you were near me I'd have you out no questions asked. All the best! FightTheBan 1,147
If you know of any local pheasant shoots ask the keeper if he wants some help during the summer in return for beating or a wee bit of rabbiting. Thats how I started out, your never too young to start learning. FTB Quote Link to post

Ideation 8,216
Yer also (and i don't mean to be harsh) it's probably good to start off this coming season doing some beating/picking up and then offer to help out doing odd jobs etc. I do pest control on some local shoots and i'm not sure they would take a 12 year old on for the job, there is a little bit more to it than a wee spot of ferreting now and then. In order to get taken on for pest control and especially to get payed your going to need to be able to handle a shotgun and rifle (legally), and be a dab hand (and possibly posses) a good range of traps. I know how it feels, but your better off going the route that i suggest and then seeing if they will let you have a wander about with your ferrets once they know that your no trouble. atb in your search! nathgoon 2
no offence mate , but i have never asked for money when i was your age , ferreting ? the chances are that he or he will employ someone else for that job , errm maybe a beatkeeper or underkeeper , your best off just saying , right i would like the experience and if money is a issue ill do it for free. thats what i did and currently i work on a game farm for a keeper , go beating and picking up and exchange i get a cheqh at the end of the mounth , and if im really luck pidgeon or some digging in winter . good luck Quote Link to post
kx100 66
well i work with a gamekeeper every sunday and do the pigeon and rabbit control for him i dont get a pa but i dont expect anything as it gives me expereance and loads of permission and it has also lead to me getting more rabbting permission on another estate Quote Link to post
