Irish Lurcher 1,013
Been hunting in one form or another since the seventies, our first lamping session was like something out of a carry on film, big fcuk off lamp that was made from the headlight from a lorry, and the battery was from the car. I would like to think that I have taken on board well earned knowledge along the way, but…. Still to this day I am learning something new every day, I love to hear of different methods used by hunters in the field, you learn so much from listening, so as long as my ears can hear I will always take advice. But….. There seems to be a new breed of hunter out in the field these days, I call them the super duper hunters, they seem to have sprung out of nowhere and have had the massive advantage of been born with the hunting instincts of the old red Indian, and they have yet to start to shave,,,, there is nothing that they don’t know, and any amount of advice you offer them is greeted with the words, I know, some of these super duper hunters are no older than my own kids,, life is just no fair, I spend the best part of thirty years learning my ways and up pops Johnny super hunter from his pram and they are a wealth of knowledge. Man who listens is a wise man Young Man with no ears is deaf.
mangy1983 51
Defo see what you are saying and it is not just in the hunting fraternity. I know of a few people exactly like them and try to steer well away from them. Two of my favourite past times are surfing the world wide web to enhance my knowledge in different subjects that interest me and listening to the stories of the old and wise as once their gone they take all their wisdom with them... cheers Callum

weasle 1,119
I remember starting out, knowing very little about hunting, but knew enough to know that some of the old lads giving me advice knew less than me,"You dont need to give ferrets water cause they suck the blood of there rabbits"any one heared that one :laugh:One person could learn more in a year than another could learn in a lifetime. cúagusgiorraí 57
IL, it seems most kids these days, seem to think they know everything, even though they truly dont understand, what they say they know.. I dont know why, but it may be due to the availability of information in the media.
