liongeorge 7
Have got two new bits of permision for rabbit shooting/ferreting. Both with alot of rabbits, popped over for a very quick look with the .22 rimfire the other evening and came back with 10. Was not prepaired with bag/game carrier and was tricky getting them all back as I can only walk around. Next time I go out there is a good chance I'll come back with alot more, What do you guys use for carrying rabbits, just a bag? Do those game carriers for pheasants work or do you hock them and use a stick? Any suggestions much appreciated. Cheers George Quote Link to post
watchman 256
it depends what im going to do with the rabbits,if they are destined for the ferrets and dogs, i just put them in a ruck-sack,army issue type of thing,if im going to eat a few i usually just leg them and thread onto my battery strap for the lamp, just letting them cool naturally, not sweating in the ruck-sack all night. i have used a mesh carrier but will snag and tear at every opportunity i found,if im ferreting i just leg them and carry on a pole Quote Link to post
jamie g 17
the 4x4 if we are walking tho plan your route so you shoot them and then come back past them on the way back. just make sure you put them up out the way of foxes otherwise it will be a free meal Quote Link to post

Cheers George I use a canvas rucksack, which is rubber lined, I think its original purpose was something like a school/sports bag type. It can fit about 20 odd rabbits at a push. I used to use game carrier type things but rabbits tended to get caught on fences etc. dont think that there is any real easy solution as carrying more then 10-15 rabbits is a pain however you do it, especially when walking round with a rifle, climbing fences is hard balance wise and getting up out of prone position asfter shooting can be difficult as it pins you down, hope this helps Quote Link to post
The one 8,479
I just put a couple of plastic boxes in the back of the vehicle and put them in there as we drive round if im walking a game bag and drop them off in piles where i can drive to pick them up Quote Link to post

Born Hunter 17,763
Cut a length of seatbelt out of an old scrap car and just leg the rabbits onto it and sling it over your shoulder. When its not in use just bung it in your pocket. Quote Link to post

clint 45
I use wash nylon line , i split line & make loop 1 end.(maybe melt with lighter, it soften & mold togeth) Other end fasten small wood peg. Make 1 metre long. When you get rabbit, split back leg, from tendon, (feed wash line thru leg, peg 1st), attach peg thru loop . Easy to carry, will carry 12 rabbit +. ou Try. jackinbox99 41
I was going to suggest using a wheel barrow! On a serious note tho, I actually use my dad most of the time. He lives over the road from my permission, so once ive got 2 or 3 rabbits, i leave them near gate to the field and txt him. He pops over, picks them up and takes them home. The advantage with doing this, is that by the time ive finished for the night and pop over to see him, he has all the rabbits skinned & gutted ready for me! Saves me the time & effort! Only disadvantage with this is that my parents have had so much rabbit stew over the last year that they are sick to death of rabbits! Quote Link to post
