Glad I went Out

Recommended Posts

Today I woke up relatively early, the sun was shining and I felt pretty good today

Well that was short lived, the wife put a stop to it almost as soon I got downstairs

So I stayed out of her way and supped fresh ground black coffee for my breakfast. Later on, there was a knock at the door and the postie had an international signed for parcel for me :gunsmilie:

I signed for it and ripped off the packaging and there before me was a brand new 3.5-10X50 scope :clapper:

I've been eagerly awaiting this  so out comes my baby a quick removal of the Kassnar and then a complete strip down of the S200 and a good lavish amount of TLC  was in order for her.

Once I'd reassembled the rifle I crowned her with the new scope; looks pretty darn good if I do say so myself

Then it was on to filling her with about 185 Bar of pressure, must service the pump soon :download:

Checked the weather forcast and it wasn't particularly inspiring, so decided I wasn't going to go out, I was going to work on my little project.

Unfortunately, this was going to be a no no as the house was a little crowded and I was well and truely fecked off and needed to get away from myself before I blew a gasket, if you know what I mean?

WOMEN!!!!

So as tea time approached, I grabbed my basics and fled the scene.

I got to the Paddock and quickly set up my backstop and zero target at 15 yards got myself comfortable and began chucking lead downrange. Making the needed adjustments and then doing another group until I had it spot on, moved the target out to 30 yards and adjusted the elevation until I was slapping the pellets into the centre of the cross :victory:

Already I'm liking this scope :good:

I'd noticed a woman at the far end of the paddock with her dog, she's a fairly regular walker, but this time she was making me a little nervous as she was stood for quite some time watching me :glare: Of course I can't take a shot can I when shes directly in my line of sight :nono:

Eventually she moves off and a few minutes later I see the white LPG LandRover with the blue light on top and the orange stripe down the middle turn off the 63 heading my way!

Uhoh! Am I gonna get another ride in that heap of junk? Luckily it took the Brough turn off, but the woman had un-nerved me and I was debating wether to go home or not.

I looked behind me when I heard the gate to the paddock creek, the woman was heading my way along with her dog.

Preparing for the usual, I stood up and walked over to her smiling and saying "Hello there, may I help you?"

Her reply was "Are you the man that shoots the rabbits?" and Im thinking "oh crap, here we go "I am" I replied.

She followed with another question "Do you shoot anybodies rabbits?" "I can do If I'm asked Maam"

"What about if they are on somebody elses land and not actually from my land?"

I explained to her that, "to do that would be illegal if I didn't have the other persons permission, unless they were comming from that land onto yours? If that was the case, then they are 'yours' when on your land"

Well her face lit up and she said "I'm glad I saw you today, I counted 14 of the little blighters on my lawn before I came out today, and there will be more when I get back! They are making such a mess of it! How much do you charge?"

:o:icon_eek::):D Stupid me replies "I don't charge"

So I won't bore you all with the rest, but I'm off tomorrow evening to get the slip signed and to start another erradication Job :clapper:

Once we had arranged the details, she left and I saw a Big Fat Woody land in a tree about 30 yards from me.

Now as I'm standing with my baby in my arms, the woody isn't that high so If I aim for the noggin, that bird is mine.

I've never shot a Woody before so I'm keen to get this right. Shouldering the rifle, the scope frames the Woodies head nicely in the crosshairs and as I control my breathing I let the shot fly.

The woody raised its head just as the pellet was speeding down the barrel, I thought I'd fluffed the shot, but the woody didn't fly off.

Instead its legs gave way and it fell almost drunkenly from the tree, it made no attempt to spread its wings and it landed on the deck head first :toast:

I rushed over to see the bird was well and truely dead, the pellet had entered one side of the neck and out through the other, taking at least one spinal vertabrae with it.

As I walked back with the woody to my normal spot in the cemetery, there was a kit sat just watching me.

I placed the bird on the grass and got myself prone, loaded another FX into my baby and let it fly.

One leap into the air later and the dead bunny landed on its back, yet another kit.

Not long after that, another kit appeared in almost the same place this one was very young, but Clearance is Clearence and no mercy was shown in the graveyard tonight.

The Magical power of three:

One new Scope + One new Permission + One new Quarry = Three

Total quarry shot Three and I'm a very happy hunter indeed.

Hi Tony buddy,

Another honest and excellent write up buddy  .

It’s so nice when you expect the worst and you end up getting more than you bargained for in regards to new permissions and good news :clapper: .

I think that you might have done the best thing by not charging her buddy.

She may tell another friend who also has the same problem and they may also request your excellent humane services if they know you come for free mate :notworthy: .

I look forward to hearing about the new clearance job mate.

Great shooting as well mate

Best wishes

Thank you guy's :gunsmilie:

She has the one piece of land that Tesco's aint managed to get their mits on yet for their new development.

She was telling me about the plans that she's seen.

Looks like they want the paddock as they want to run a separate slip road off the A63

At the moment, her house and garden will sit in part of the Tesco car park. They have apparently asked her to sell, but so far refuses :clapper:

I'm looking forward to getting my teeth into the woody :boogie: but alas I dont know how best to cook it?

Ideas welcome guy's

Was suprised at how much meat there is on it :D Size of a good Morrisons Chicken breast

The scope is a fantastic piece of kit, its a copy of the Luepold Mark 4 M1 (right down to the Stamp on the underside of the body)

The IR is superb against the dark and green in low light (but only on setting 1 the dimmest, brighter than that and it's just a fuzzy cross).

As for Speedy Bill not seen him yesterday as all :( although in the paddock I saw another silky black kit, no bigger than a tennis ball and it had a white spot on its noggin :D

I just hope the black ones dont show up in the graveyard.
