I am new to ratting also and have a 6 month old JRT, i was advised on here to show the dog the rat and she went mental, she has been killing rats for about two weeks now following this advice. I would give him a go. Obviously not from the rat released from the cage because that would be illegal!

hello mate, i was out ratting when my pup got his first rat, it was running along the face of a wall and soon as he saw it he nailed it.

just show it a rat, and it should just do it..

or you could get on the ground and gob it and show the dog how its done haha..

gd luck mate
