biglee 1 3 Posted May 14, 2010 Report Share Posted May 14, 2010 hi guys iam new to the terriers ive got a wee pat at 7month hes really friendly hes from worker to worker sire an dam were real hardy dugs will he take to ratting easily or will i have to coax him ive got a live trap how wud i got about gettin him revved up for it and do dogs need a special jags for rats or what lol any help wud b great Quote Link to post

nicholiath 1 Posted May 14, 2010 Report Share Posted May 14, 2010 I am new to ratting also and have a 6 month old JRT, i was advised on here to show the dog the rat and she went mental, she has been killing rats for about two weeks now following this advice. I would give him a go. Obviously not from the rat released from the cage because that would be illegal! Quote Link to post

Ratter 0 Posted May 14, 2010 Report Share Posted May 14, 2010 hello mate, i was out ratting when my pup got his first rat, it was running along the face of a wall and soon as he saw it he nailed it. just show it a rat, and it should just do it.. or you could get on the ground and gob it and show the dog how its done haha.. gd luck mate Quote Link to post
Rik 49 Posted May 14, 2010 Report Share Posted May 14, 2010 my pup has just turned 7 months old and has just started killing rats,I started her off with the live cage it really does the job,that was only last week she has had 4 since then and Ive just got back from the farmyard and she was hunting like a good un and had 2 more. She is coming on real well and Im well pleased with her progress but I have learn't from the guys/gals on this forum is not to rush it,(Good advice)they'll go when there ready good luck with yours ATB Rick Quote Link to post
