ive probally lamped more cow pats than anybody on here. also had a bitch knock her tooth out going in on a squatter the reason it was so still was it was a big brick. my mate once ran a certain something and it wasnt what he thought it was. a goat had got out and was wandering on some rough ground .lee c on here knows who i am on about. .

I accidentally lamped a brick which looked like a squatter from a good distance, the dog flew up the beam and did his usual strike and knocked the brick about 20 ft across the field. Luckily his teeth were ok.

My usual one is tin cans or bottles in clumps of grass.Ive lamped my share of bricks aswell.No idea were the fish came from.

 

I used to do some terrier work in Derbyshire near a carp fishing pond,i found a few carp half eaten and some buried in the area near the pond,think the foxes were taking them at night from the margins? none of them wieghed more than a pound though.

Wouldn't say strange but at the time was a mixture of fear and excitment!!! Hopped over the gate to the field and ran two rabbits missed the first allways did with my old bitch and as I was about to pass through too the next field I flicked my lamp on and there were these big eyes staring straight back at me from the edgeline to my right under an old oak tree couldn't make out for the life of me what it was all I knew was it was big!! So I let curiosity get the better of me and approached it slowly trying to get a good view of it!! My heart was pumping when I was approaching!! the bitch a seasoned veteran on all quarry decided she didn't want to go near it and acted really strangly as we got closer wich I will admit reallly unsettled me!! But I couldn't resist and It literally let me walk right up next to it before getting up and waddling off down the field were I came from!! It was a calf!! I can't tell you how happy I was to see it's fat arse wandering off and not some strange beast that was going to eat me and my dog!! Unsettling at the time but it's all in your mind! I'm just glad I went over and found out what it was before starting a tale if a local beast !!

I put the lamp on one night and saw a "fox" trotting down a footpath right in the open,

I slipped my dog and he had gone no more than 20 yards when someone shouted oi thats my dog! and it was. A red terrier.

Also done the usual crisp packets, coke cans and lapwings.

Iv heard stories about shooting lads, one who actually shot a tractor thinking it was a fox

And another who damn near shot a very expensive horse that was stood behind a drystone wall, thinking it was a fox sat on the wall.

Its amazing how your eyes & mind play tricks on you.I remeber looking up the feild one really dark night.On top of the browe was what looked like about 20 people coming towards me.The more i stared,the closer they got.Turned out to be the chimmneys on the houses over the other side.The sheep skeleton in the first pic shit me up aswell when i lamped that from across the field.

lol I had two drunks appear out of knowwere because apparently they thought my lamp was a UFO that was very wierd!! U puff out your chest and try to make yourself feel like your scared of nothing but if were all honest with ourselves when the minds playing tricks and your on your own just you and the dog it's unnerving lol!! I laugh about it now but at the time I could feel my heart pumping so hard in my chest I'm suprised I didn't scare off the local wildlife!!
