fellpack 7
Sorry to hear about that what a shame to lose a dog that way Quote Link to post
Cleanspade 3,324
its interesting how folk instantly think the wheaten cross was the bad guy. which may not be the truth. he just had the size and strength to overpower the whippet. doesnt mean he caused it as for the fighting dogs should be put in a hole. i would agree. but is a dog that has been kenneled for years with a dog without incident a fighter.? i would say no. if the two dogs where the same size. whats the chances there would have been a death. slim. whats happened here is a disagreement with a big strong dog and a small slight dog. i have a wheaten cross a very powerfull dog and not one to take insults lightly. he has a great nature and runs around the house with little terriers. would i kennel him with one.....NO is he a bad fighter........NO but he is a dog sorry to hear of your loss mate. a real tragedy Quote Link to post
Mr Hunter 31
Reading this thread has got me thinking now.I kennel my 12 month old Whip x Grey dog along with my 4 month old Wheaten bitch and assumed this would be fine. The Wheaten bitch shows no fear whatsover and despite her size give the Lurcher a shock last week when he grabbed her for taking one of his pigs trotters but she retalited and gave as good as she got and he shit himself. And only last night whilst out mooching with Peg&Gun off here we were surrounded by inquisitive young bulls and a young bull cornered the Wheaten pup and bent down to sniff her and she growled and snapped and tried to grab the bull by the nose despite its size.So the chances of her backing down if things get heated in the future are very slim indeed and i know if it came to it there would only be one outcome. bullmatt 5
Dogs what are aggresive towards other dogs are a nuisance in the hunting game regardless if its in the kennel or in the back of the motor or out in the field. Two dogs should be able to be kenneled together without problem as long as they have seperate sleeping area ie twin kennel inside a single run. Agressive dogs(fighters) dont deserve a kennel to themselfs they deserve a hole to themselfs. what a crock of shite you spue dick. Quote Link to post

Richie10 345
Got a wheaten cross and he is always picking on the saluki x. They did have some time together in the run but now as they are growing older I wouldn't kennel them together. The wheaten is good indoors and with most people but I don't trust him with the pup. They play far too rough together until it starts to turn horrible. Wouldn't have another one and I wouldn't get rid of this one. Quote Link to post

He is a handful and he has pulled the wife into the road chasing a fox before. She has the handle on that now and he doesn't pull at all now. Realistically I can take them for a walk together but have to keep the saluki x close, but I couldn't work them together, the frustration of a miss is then worked out by attacking the Saluki! Couldn't get rid of him as he is the family pet now. Quote Link to post
