Sweeney-Todd 208
Hi guy's. Was out with the HW100 yesterday afternoon for a spot of practice and re zero. While there I spotted a couple of bunnies sat out at the very top of this large field, worth a look tonight I thought to myself. So at about 18.00 I made my way to the permission. I havnt shot on this permission for some time, so was looking forward to it. Pulled up into the gateway, and sat there looking up the field, sure enough, right aat the top there was two sat out. Got the kit ready, and climed over the gate. Made my way up the field slowly, checking the tree's as I went, spooked a couple of Pigeon's. It was a noticably chilly evening, even with a little sun. Got to my static position and settled down, tucked into the longish grass at the fields edge. About 40 minute's later out came a bunny, lazed at 38yds, looking through the scope I could see he was in excellent condition. Waited for him to settle down, he was well out from the hedge so it was a nice clear shot. Shouldered the Cannon, and squeezed the shot off, as I did the bunny dropped its head and the pellet went sailing over .....oh well. Needless to say he dissapeared. Half hour passed and out came number two, lazed at 42yds, again nice clear target. Shouldered the Cannon, and off went the pellet. A satisfying crack soon followed, and bunny went down with hardly a twicth. Time was going on, so I made my way back to the car. Was packing the kit away and making ready to gut and skin the rabbit. A car went passed, and then stopped to reverse back. It was a Police car. The Policeman got out and asked if I was ok, and we started chating, apparently someone had reported a body laying in the field, motionless for over 90 minutes He asked lot's of question's about the the Cannon and scope ( Ex Royal Marine ) I let him hold the Rifle,( after unloading and making it safe ) and he took great pleasure in looking it over. He was satisfied everything was in order, and bid me farwell. It's nice to know there are people looking out for you, I could have been injured in the field. Here's a pic of the one that didnt duck Click the pic Cheer's me dear's. Bill. Quote Link to post

If I had snapped an ankle in a furrow while out and about, I would have been very glad of the attention......especialy if I had forgotten my Mobile, or the battery went flat I always tell Lorraine where Im shooting, and the time I expect to be home, you never know in the countryside what may, or could happen. Best if someone know's where you are, and what your about. ATB> Bill. Quote Link to post

Thank you mate Only need to fear them if your doing somthing wrong buddy. I think the attitudes vary greatly between city police and country police. If I was constantly getting grief from little skroat's and abused by the pond life of society while doing my job, I think I'd be a Barsteward too ATB. Bill. Quote Link to post
