heritage 202
oakey, when rigging a traditional net you have to trap/splice/fix the first and last mesh to the head and foot lines.i dont do pictures well but what you need to do is slide the net onto your pre-cut head/foot lines, pass the head line through the eye of the anchor pin and splice it to the foot line, repeat this process on the other end of the net(creating a large loop), then stitch the first and last mesh to the respective running lines approx 1 1/2 yards from the anchor pin (the 1 1/2 can vary-personal preferance) OR...pass the head and foot lines through the net, splice onto the first/last mesh then attach the anchor pin with a nice neat splice.im reasonably local to you,if you want showing drop me a pm and we can arrange a meet sometime, atb Quote Link to post
Tiercel 6,986
This is how the end of the net should look when it is set. Heritage is right when he states that you have to splice the lines. However with some braid it is near on impossible to do. So you sew the lines together. Tiercel 6,986
OK i think ive got it the mesh is fixed to the top and bottom line but the pin isnt so it can slide Thats about it, the reason it needs to slide is that when you are shooting the net you do a clove hitch around the top of the peg with the head line to keep the net up and tight between the pegs. A single loop around with the foot line around the bottom of the pegs. Therefore the amount of line that is used for the head line is greater than for the footline. If you had fixed endpins it would never work out, there would always be slack in the net and the net would endup sagging between the pegs. TC Quote Link to post
