when people say give the rifle a wipe down before and after work with a oily rag is wd-40 ok on the rag??? quick replies wanted cleaning rifle as we speak

but ive wiped mine down for years using wd40 and has not affected the bluing

at all

 

altho i now use the napier range of cleaning patches etc

i have a cloth coverd in wd in a small plastic bag in my gun bag at all times, often get it out if it starts to rain and give the gun a wipe over,stops the rain sitting on the gun.then a wipe over befor it gos bk to bed.

Ive used WD40 for many years for cleaning and lubing my pellets.

 

As long as you use it in moderation its a very good fine oil mate.

iv also used wd40 on my guns for years without any problems,

i just spray an old rag and wipe them over before putting them in the cabinet

Crap!!!!

 

I just wasted money buying oil for my baby when I had a can of WD40 in the shed!

 

I'd heard that it was not the best stuff to use many years ago so I've never used it for general cleaning of rifles

 

If you'd have asked yesterday you could have saved me some money

thanks again folks for the helpfull advice will keep my wd40 handy now in my cleaning kit, i used it for lubing my pellets as well after watching your video zini very helpfull

wd40 (water displacement 40)is fine for cleaning but you should always try to use a sylicone based oil for lubrication

hey yeah i got proper rifle lube for lubrication it was just the out side of the gun wasnt sure about.

No problems Chris im glad that the clip was useful to you.

 

Got to say Chris i have used WD40 for lubing for years too and i have had some good results on vermin and long range accuracy using it.

 

I wont be changing my method of ammo prep.

 

Its tried and tested and as long as you do it like i did in the video clip, using a piece of paper towl and in moderation you wont go wrong mate.

 

Everyone has a view mate. My advice to you is try something for yourself first. If it works well then stick with it and pass on your experiences to us on here.

 

We are all interested in learning mate.

 

Maybe you could come up with a good idea that we havent thought about in the past mate.
