Guest michael.hudson7
We were taking my cousins whippet on ferreting expeditions from the age of 21 weeks and he was marking sets and copying of the other dogs brilliantly. Quote Link to post
cocker 2,654
i like to start them on some easy rabbits in july august time, i think about 10 months old is a good time to start them off, try to make sure he catches his first few rabbits, make sure they are a long way from cover or holes, and make sure he,s seen them properly, myxy rabbits are good and easy to catch, Quote Link to post
Guest little lurcher
good advice, above , dont push too quickly though , let the dog develop at own pace , he will be less prone to injury if allowed good free running and rough and tumbles before he starts in the field , ive bitches here that started work at 9 months and fantastic at it , the dogs i had to wait til after a year ????? maybe the lines maybe the sexes and how they mentally mature ? , a good piece of advice i was given , " whats a few months delay for many more months extra in field ? Guest little lurcher
plenty of time yet mate , if there is a super dead easy one and she is keen let her , but dont rush her , you will end up with a spirit broken dog and likely to yap Quote Link to post
