still trying to find the right x for me

i will be using the dog to come ferreting with me but will be mainly worked on the lamp. i dont want anything too big, but i want a nice strong dog, that would be capable of the odd red. i was thinking of a collie x bull x grey, but i'm swaying towards something like a well bred 5/8 whippet 1/4 collie 1/8 bull. using whippet rather than greyhound to try and keep the size down a little.

anybody reccomend me anything else?

just not keen on the beddy x. our lass's dad has got one that hasnt done anything. ive had him out with me, does nothing but whine, yaps at other dogs while running. gets fed up after an hour and completely ignores me, its just completely put me off that cross, and to be honest i wouldnt buy one myself as i would be expecting it to turn out like that

Collie/whippet/greyhound mate and you wont go far wrong.

 

No need for any bull if you are only doing an occasional bit - they will detract more than what they put in.

 

A nice racy type of the above would be spot on mate.

I think you have made your mind up already jenksi it sounds like a good selection, ive never had a bull blooded lurcher i prefer colli xs, just be careful and find out about the parents abilitys

to be honest mate, the only reason i wanted some bull in it is to try and even out some of the collie sensitivity, bit more bite than bark if you know what i mean? something that will take a bite and not be put off. i have thought of adding wheaton rather than bull but there few and far between.

i must say i like the look dogs with bull in them (but a grafter is more important than a looker)

find someone who uses their bitch for what you want to do then get a dog similar and get a puppy, train it right and worry about breeding less....simples

its got to be a saluki/grey cross collie/grey mine the black and white 1 in my pic on the left standing with his dad does everything you ask of him and his dad was a supper fox dog im so pleased with him ive got another litter the same way bred as him due 22 may as flash was 4 on the 1st of may just gone so going to run a pup on with him before he retires

bitch is 22 tts out off 1st cross bull/grey bitch put to a 1st cross bull/grey dog. dog is a whippet/grey. both of which work day and night

from the sounds of it they should be decent pups. i'm making a 12hour round trip for it when there ready.
