chimp 299 Posted May 7, 2010 Report Share Posted May 7, 2010 jai , dont get me wrong if they are wanted i will give them to mates (who will keep them )but there are only so many ferrets you can give away , without getting into the big culling debate again i cant see a problem to thin out if done correctly thus saving unwanted kits. it may sound harsh to those tree huggers but i feel im doing my bit to keep numbers down and keeping my own line. just remembered that i gave a member here a silver due to him having all his stolen (please note .... I didn't miss the boat as my post wasn't even aimed at you Jai, all I was doing was agreeing with the other posts that there are "enough experts" on this forum, nowhere did I mention any names so try not to be so paranoid mate. You had a dig [wrongly I believe] in your first post and you were big enough to apologise so fair play to you. Mind I have never paid for a fert in 35 odd years! The hob, as a kit, had dodgy back legs but after careful looking after by Chimp, then me I guess, hes a big bruiser! All mine live together and I didnt get time to part them before he had lined the pair of em! One jill has had 13 kits today! A big litter and I have another about to drop! Say my other jill has 8? Thats 21 I have to either give away or pedal. Last year I had 9 kits and I couldnt give em away to working homes. The eventually went to a guy who supplies the pet shops. I dont breed for money and if anyone wants 21 kits in about 6 weeks great! Must admit I have thought about culling a few cos 13 is gonna drag the jill right down. Oh and how do I know shes got 13? Well I went in the nest and took em all out while she was there and counted em. Summat I have always done and always will! She wasnt bothered and went straight back to em. Just dont go in with scented hands I had been gardening and just cleaned em out so scent wasnt a problem! Chimp fancy a job? Edited May 9, 2010 by masmiffy Quote Link to post
