hello boys and girls...

 

just out of interest how many dogs do most of you have?

 

I already have a lab, collie, alano espanol x mastiff but i really would like a beddie x whpppet or something like that for ferreting this winter as i dont really have much experience with running dogs, and judging bya recent thread this would be a good place to start.

 

The Mrs thinks that 3 dogs is enough...which is pretty hard to argue with, but we might be moving to a small holding with 12 acres in the near future, so if it comes off then i will have the room for another one.

 

i'd love to see some pics of your packs, if you have them.

The dogs youve got already are im sure nice dogs but they aint what one would think of as "rabbit dogs". A beddy whippet is well known to be a good rabbit dog. There tough, love diving into cover and they are fast as f**k too! The hair trigger 0-60 in half a second type speed makes them perfect for bushing rabbits AND ferreting. Iv got one coming soon myself. Check out my thread called my new pup for some "AAAAAAAWWWW factor" piccys.

4 is an even number. Actually f*ck that you need 5, a running dog and a decent terrier.

 

You think an extra dog is tough. Try convincing your misses you need a pack of hounds . . . thats an interesting argument.

I have two dogs, sorry no pics at the mo as I've just got a new pc and ain't loaded anythin yet.

 

I suppose your Mrs has a point, 3 dogs and if they are house dogs, would be, to me, just about enough!

 

The question you should ask yourself is, 'what breed of dog would be the best to fulfill my needs for the length of its life'?

For myself, as much as I admire various breeds, i'll only ever keep lurchers, as they both serve me well in both the field (my passion) and for my family as 'pets' (as such).

My Mrs would love a little 'foo foo' dog but it's just sommat else to 'keep' and i'm sure, as I suppose she is that apart from the pet side of it, it would be pointless.

No carrying passengers for me, everything MUST earn it's keep, I just couldn't justify it.
