RAPID7LIAM 7
I already have or had my reference's sorted till i just read elsewhere that your referee's must be immediate family/relation, is this correct because it doesnt state this on any of my forms. I always thought it could'nt be a family member. I have my workmate of 12 years and my boss who i've worked under for the last 5 years. It does make a bit sense though as the questions it asks are for someone who obviously knows you well. ps, i'm just a thick joiner and paperwork has never been my strong point, it's worse than been back at school but at least i get something worth while at the end of it all, cheers, Liam.. Colster 1
and members of your immediate family, police officers/employees, registered firearms dealers or non-UK residents may not act as referees Your mate and boss will be fine. As said above, can't use family members, serving police officers or RFD's Quote Link to post
HUnter_zero 58
Hi Liam, Your mate & Boss should be okay. What I always do is to phone the Firearms licensing office before I commit and ask them "is it okay for [such and such] to act as my referee....". The office normally wants to know how I know the referees and what they work as. My advice is do as I do, and just ask the question. If your a member of a club, and want to use any of the firearms at the club (using the club in part to get your FAC) I am sure you will need the clubs secretary to complete one of the referees forms. RicW 67
As said, family members cannot referee you. Your referees should be "people of good standing in the community" who know you personally. They do not have to be "professional" persons. If you have, let's say, a neighbour who has lived near you for a few years, has a steady job and no criminal record, he would be perfect. A good person to ask might be the owner/manager of your local chemists shop. As I remarked a while back, Ronnie Kray might not go down too well. Ric Quote Link to post
coldweld 65
A mate of mine has just had a ref refused ! the ref has known him for 14 years has his own buisness . And has a FAC/SGC It was turned do the buisness being less than ten years old/ less than 25 employies. Would have been ok if ref had a degree ! Quote Link to post

matt_hooks 188
Liam, hope your progresses better than mine. Somewhere along the line one of my referee forms disappeared, not sure if it was in Royal Mail's system or in the TVP system. I phoned after 3 weeks to find out what was happening, only to be told that they are still waiting for the paperwork! So got my second referee to send another form, recorded delivery this time, let them try and lose that one! Quote Link to post

If the forms aren't sent recorded they seem to get 'lost', I know mine did and I know of a few others too, plus yours, hmmmm a pattern occuring ? Quote Link to post
