I put the up to ask for advice not to start arguments and longdog13 i would of come with you but i cant just trust a random person form the internet like that i need to know you but its hard ATM with school so thanks for the comment and giving me a bad reputation . Also thanks for the advice guys. And i will work them without a collar then, the only reason why i havent is because everyone here goes by collars as a must.

If you can't trust random people on the internet don't ask random people on the internet. You could always meet people with your parents until you know and trust them. I too asked longdog13 when i started and he is one of the most genuine people you could meet and i've made a good friend, simply by asking and turning up when he wanted me to. If you ask and people offer their help its good to take it. Not having a go its just a bit of friendly advice

 

Also, you clearly care for your ferrets so buying a locator for them is a good idea, its always nice to know where they are. Imagine waiting for your ferret, seeing or hearing no signs for a couple of hours or so, having no idea where it is or if its in trouble, then you'll wish you had a locator. I don't understand in this day and age why people choose not to use them!! Theres a reason they are made and most use them

 

some ppl choose not to use them cause there noisy as f**k and half the time i forgot to switch on.oh and and the main reason they are made is to make money.i managed 25 year without one then cpl years i got one when i joined the site.just reading ppls posts on a great addition they were.after a month and a half i gave up on it.however aint knocking anyone who uses them before the insults come lol

It's not always a matter of choice though is it? No doubt about it a locator is a very handy piece of equipment but they are pricey so not everyone might have the funds to afford one. Does that mean they shouldn't go ferreting?

If you get into a routine of switching the collar on and checking it before entering the ferret then you shouldn't forget, i never have. True, they are made to make money, but then Deben is a business after all and that isnt the only purpose for making locators. There are always going to be those who like them and those who don't, but theres no denying they are a useful bit of kit.

wasnt knocking anyone who uses them mate as i stated.just not for me mate,but yea for the lads who use them reg im sure they do think its a great kit.all i was saying was with patience and a bit common sense there not a must have piece of kit

still no news on this lads ferret then i thought that it was going the vets yesterday ,???? as for locators on a very windy day late in the season they just werent bolting had i not been working small jills and had a hob down there it would of been lie up central, , working hobs to the long net esential i would presume but hay this was a thread about some lads hob which was ment to be going to the vets ???yesterday

I agree it's a good idea to get one bud, infact I wouldn't be without one. But if I was a young lad and I didn't have the funds to get one I wouldn't let that stop me ferreting, after all what did everyone do before locaters existed?

the thing that prompted my post was that after informing me that your step dad was anti rabbiting, you then tell me you will bring your nan out , then you tell me to leave it but could i tell you where my land is so you could go without me. Really??? why ask complete strangers to take you out hunting, then say "i would of come with you but i cant just trust a random person form the internet like that i need to know you". Just do yourself a favour and do some proper research, books videos etc on your chosen subject. don't just play at it because it's the animals that will suffer.

Hi everyone,

 

Thanks for the replys and my apologise to longdog13 if i can come i will and i wont waste time this time.

 

Also to everyones question, I took my hob to the vets today and they said it could be a abses if im lucky and then he checked it qith a needle...it was solid. Bad news guys unfortunatly we had to put him down as he had lost sooo much weight in the space of a nice and was breathing heavy because of the lump growing over his neck.

I agree, take the ferret to the vets a.s.a.p and get a fcuking collar, also if ya gunna meet up with people then take your little pistol with ya! SIMPLE! Not that i would coz i aint a wup ass.. Its quite a good experiance as i have met up with people of xbox and now there good mates. Anyway just sort it out coz where all good lads arn't we?

KK soz to everyone then and if anyone asks me then i will just go. Also i only noticed it friday night. Monday there wasnt a vet on site and tuesday they vets closed at 2 oclock so i couldnt take him plus it was cancer so it didnt make any diffrence because it hadnt grown and the vet said he dosent seem to be in pain ATM but would of been by the weekend so...Im glad hes out of misery.
