iluvmarcus 23
i used to fish kielder alot in the early ninetys when it was classed as unstocked, mainly around the dam wall , we would never see a sole , but we got some great catches . had one close shave with a adder snake but i managed to spy it at last minute but i didnt tell my pal who nearly stepped on it my best fish was a wild brownie of 7 lbs on a mepps that released as i prefur to eat rainbow as i find brownie taste muddy Quote Link to post
chartpolski 24,142
Kielder has been fishing very well for the last couple of weeks, both fly and bait. Ledgered worm with crushed dog biscuits in a swim feeder have been doing well. Cheers. Edited May 19, 2010 by chartpolski Quote Link to post

donk 12
Nice fish mate. I normally get the boat out and do a bit spinning, works well Kielder is midgie heaven, i always try to go when its a bit breezy as i find it keeps their numbers down. One word of warning if you take a boat out, dont stand up in the boat. We were fishing up there and my mate was standing up in the boat fly fishing when suddenly, WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, this low flying jet came over and, if it hadnt been for my son grabbing the other lad, he would have been in the water. Frightens the life out of you when them jets do a low run over the reservoir Quote Link to post

chartpolski 24,142
back of tower knowle was a good spot. we checked about getting a log cabbin last year and couldnt believe how much they wanted. cheaper to go to spain I use the log cabins a lot, beginning of the season they are fairly cheap, £140 for four nights, sleeps six, and you get free fishing for all the people you register as using the cabin. Don't just look at the price list, 'phone them and ask about "specials", you also get 10-20% discount if you have used them before. It used to be £10 a dog per night, but has now went up to about £30 a night !!! I just tell them the dogs will sleep in the car; never had a problem. Cheers. Quote Link to post
